It don't mean a thing.. If it aint got that SWING.

I have been very neglectful of this blog- therefore a catch up needs to be had.

Ever since I arrived in MS I really wanted to find some interesting shops ( vintage & antique)... and I did.

I often go to this funky store Repeat Street in Ridgeland MS- http://www.repeatstreet.net/ for an outfit or retro dress. I go there quite ALOT now, and I'm suprised they don't know my name .. yet.  I had a 1940's/50's Swing Formal to go to early this year, and me being a lover of the 40's was looking for a sweet dress, that could easily be danced in. I tried many, however this 1950's Vintage Sue Brett Junior black button front dress, with short sleeves and pockets took my fancy.

The formal was held at a local coffeehouse. Such an atmosphere, swing music from the 40's and 50's was in the background, others were munching on hamburgers, and swing dancing was burning up the floor, people being thrown around and fantastic photos being taken of beautiful people, in stunning clothes.

Beautiful friends

Recently, in a our most recent photoshoot, a dear friend had some fun in this dress. Thankyou to my favourite photographer ever for these gorgeous shots- Rebecca Blackshear Photography!

If you have fallen in love with this dress! Go ahead and take a closer look here on my shop.

THE DRESS UP BOX...

Rummaging through Nanna's old dress up trunk, brought back memories of the times spent as a little squirt in an old ball gown of hers. I would pretend and fantasize about who I could be, in which house I would live, and which prince I would marry. Now 20, I still have not grown out of dress- ups. I love them.

With each dress, or costume comes memories, and a story.

Jane, Glenys & my Uncle Tim
So,  Nanna caught me out in the act of going through the dress- ups and went into her room.
Meanwhile, I found an old dress, which my Nanna had made for herself before she was married in 1961. Later when my Mum was born, Nana made a mini matching one for her and shortened the hem on her own.
Uncle Tim, Glenys & Jane (from L to R)
Audrey Hepburn

These dresses are both white cotton, with purple roses- handmade by my Nanna (Glenys). The dress in which my Nanna is wearing will be on sale at the opening of my Etsy Boutique.
You will find these treasures at my Etsy Boutique in October. So stay tuned!  http://www.etsy.com/people/AeteperduVintage?ref=si_pr.

A ete perdu.

This little phrase.
The answer is no, I don't have any French in me whatsoever, nor do I have a deeper knowledge about the language. . . but this little phrase, resonates true.

A été perdu- meaning: was lost.

The articles of clothing, timeless accessories and decor that are found on this little blog were {past tense} lost. In all simplicity, they had no owner. But, they have now been found, and found worthy of using.

I too was lost.
To be frank, I was in a place of darkness, where I had no owner. My destiny was death, and I was lost in it.
I was blinded to the life that Christ had called me to live alongside Him.
Until I was found in His grace, mercy, and great love
 = JESUS.
I was lost. But now I am FOUND.
